Utilita Energy – Warm Home Discount


Are you a customer of Utilita energy?

Applications for the Utilita Warm Home Discount are open for 1 week only between the 11th and 18th August 2021. If you do not submit an application within this 1 week window you will not be able to apply again until next year.

If your application is successful you may receive £140 towards your winter energy costs. This will usually be paid over 2 months and will be split between your electricity and gas.

How does it work?

If you receive Pension Credit you will be in the core group and should receive this automatically.

Otherwise, you will need to apply under the broader group.

If you received the Warm Home Discount last year you’ll be guaranteed to get it this year as long as you apply again. Any remaining allocations will be randomly given to the rest of the applications. Unfortunately, this means not everyone who will apply will receive the support.

 

What is the broader group criteria?

To be eligible for the Warm Home Discount, you will need to qualify for ONE of the Main Benefits and ONE of the Sub-elements.

Universal Credits AND earned less than £1,349 in one of the last 12 months from employment

  • In receipt of the Limited Capability for Work element of Universal Credits
  • In receipt of the Disabled Child element of Universal Credits
  • Parental responsibility for a child aged five or under who lives with the applicant

Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (“ESA”) AND in the Work-Related Activity group

  • Parental responsibility for a child aged five or under who lives with the applicant
  • Child Tax Credits, which includes a disability or severe Disability element
  • A Disabled Child Premium
  • A Disability Premium, Enhanced Disability Premium, or Severe Disability Premium
  • A Pensioner Premium, Higher Pensioner Premium or Enhanced Pensioner Premium

Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (“ESA”) AND includes a Support Component

  • Parental responsibility for a child aged five or under who lives with the applicant
  • Child Tax Credits, which includes a disability or severe Disability element
  • A Disabled Child Premium
  • A Disability Premium, Enhanced Disability Premium, or Severe Disability Premium
  • A Pensioner Premium, Higher Pensioner Premium or Enhanced Pensioner Premium

Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance

  • Parental responsibility for a child aged five or under who lives with the applicant
  • Child Tax Credits, which includes a disability or severe Disability element
  • A Disabled Child Premium
  • A Disability Premium, Enhanced Disability Premium, or Severe Disability Premium
  • A Pensioner Premium, Higher Pensioner Premium or Enhanced Pensioner Premium

Income Support

  • Parental responsibility for a child aged five or under who lives with the applicant
  • Child Tax Credits, which includes a disability or severe Disability element
  • A Disabled Child Premium
  • A Disability Premium, Enhanced Disability Premium, or Severe Disability Premium
  • A Pensioner Premium, Higher Pensioner Premium or Enhanced Pensioner Premium

Child Tax Credit AND an annual household income of less than £16,190

  • Parental responsibility for a child aged five or under who lives with the applicant
  • Child Tax Credits, which includes a disability or severe Disability element
  • A Disabled Child Premium
  • A Disability Premium, Enhanced Disability Premium, or Severe Disability Premium
  • A Pensioner Premium, Higher Pensioner Premium or Enhanced Pensioner Premium

You can apply on your smartphone using the ‘My Utilita’ App or online.

Finding your customer reference number

You will need your customer reference number to complete an application or register for the app, if you don’t know it you can find it on their website by using your top-up card number here.
