Long-serving Energy Advisor Julian Ridal has retired after ten years working for community-led charity Greener Kirkcaldy, which delivers the Cosy Kingdom energy advice service in West and Central Fife.
Julian has retired after 10 years supporting the community with free and impartial energy advice.
Since 2016, Julian delivered over 7,500 energy advice sessions to Fife households, largely in the West Fife and Dunfermline area. These home visits and telephone calls are a vital service that helps people to stay warm and save energy at home.
Julian worked tirelessly through some serious challenges for the community. These include the Covid-19 lockdown, where he helped people in his community who were shielding or self-isolating to continue topping up prepayment meters and access crisis support. More recently the ongoing cost of living crisis has seen soaring energy bills.
Over the last ten years Julian’s support secured over £1.73 million in financial gains for people in the community. This includes support from Cosy Kingdom’s handy service, referrals for energy efficiency improvements, crisis support payments and grants to help clear fuel debt.
Julian Ridal said: “This has been a very fulfilling and satisfying role, empowering and advising Fife residents on managing their energy use. Working within Cosy Kingdom and Greener Kirkcaldy is a real team effort and I’d like to say thank you to all my colleagues past and present for their help and support.”
Michael Hildrew, Energy Advice Team leader said: “Julian and I joined Greener Kirkcaldy as Energy Advisors on the same day back in 2016 so it feels like the end of an era to see him move on.
“He has shown great dedication in delivering over 7,500 energy advice sessions and securing over £1.73 million for our community and I’m sorry to see such a valuable colleague leave.
“However, I’m incredibly happy for him as he begins what is a very well deserved retirement. Everyone at Greener Kirkcaldy and the wider Cosy Kingdom partnership wishes Julian well for the future.”
